“We’re really happy with the work that’s being done on our site by NDP. Griff and the team have been very responsive...” - ASTRID FERGUSON • DIGITAL COORDINATOR • FESTIVAL REPUBLIC V FESTIVAL
VFestival is one of the UK’s largest Music festivals in the fiercely competitive Summer season. Development and planning began 6 months prior with a number of phased releases leading up to the festival in August.
Agile approach
Working with the design and UX team at Festival Republic we offered advice on how best to build their site on Drupal. With a number of consulting and feedback sessions, the team put together a site that would look great across multiple releases from the first announcement to the festival day.
The fast pace of and immediate changes required by the Festival Republic team meant that long and rigid development phases were impossible. We opted for an agile approach to development that allowed Festival Republic to push requirements quickly and focus on specific features which coordinated with the build-up to the festival dates.
Features
A priority for the client was keeping the back-end and key sections of the CMS as easy as possible to update. With multiple content editors on the clients' end, strict training for each user was unrealistic. So a combination of user permissions and automated content uploading allowed key announcements to go live quickly.
End product
Keeping the site fresh and the audience engaged with teasers, photo galleries, ticket purchasing and lineup announcements meant that the site was constantly evolving leading up to the festival. We implemented an agile approach to development that enabled quick turnaround of specific pages and functionality as well as the flexibility for FR to change the priority of different sections later into the pipeline.
Over the festival weekend, NDP also offered 24/7 support to the Festival Republic team ensuring that they had nothing to worry about on their website front.
