As a leading provider of education products to the schools sector, Rising Stars had an ambitious plan to digitise their product offering. The aim was to allow teachers in schools to easily access the resources that they or their schools had purchased, by logging into a personalised ‘My Rising Stars’ portal.  More resources, less hassle, no double purchasing. No wonder schools love them.

Technical challenge

The new website had to integrate with Spirit, a specialist CRM. And both systems needed to talk at each step of the purchasing and product access processes. Spirit were developing a new API to support this, so both systems had to be developed in parallel. At times, less of a code sprint and more of a three-legged race - but all delivered on schedule.

seamless transition

The site was designed and built on Drupal Commerce and had to respect established product and resource hierarchies. It also needed to respect existing permissions for teachers and schools - so that they could all access the correct products.

In order to design the publishing processes, we interviewed both product and order management teams to understand what would and wouldn’t work for them. Finally, a sector-appropriate design was developed, to support and not overwhelm the individual product brands.

life-cycle support

Since launch, we’ve delivered support, plus further large blocks of feature development. Some of this development has allowed greater customisation in-line with the various product brand identities. Some is more technical - new functionality and changes to the integration API.

On top of that, there is normal day-to-day support under our SLA, plus bugfixes, Q&A and CMS training.
